Meta-analysis provides a broadly accessible and hands-on exposure to the processes involved in conducting a quantitative meta-analysis. Lectures detail every step of meta-analysis including data preparation, effect size selection and calculation (including complex effect sizes), selection of appropriate meta-analytic techniques (including meta-regression), and interpretation and reporting of results (including evaluating assumptions, selection bias and diagnostics for influential effect sizes). During the course, participants will learn how to calculate various kinds of effect sizes and how to use them to conduct a meta-analysis and make appropriate inferences. Examples from the social, behavioral and health sciences are integrated throughout the lectures. Demonstrations are provided using free point-and-click web tools specifically designed for effect size calculation and meta-analyses.

Mariola Moeyaert

Mariola Moeyaert obtained her PhD in Educational Statistics in 2014 from the University of Leuven (Belgium) and worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at the Center of Advanced Study in Education at the City University of New York. She joined the faculty of Educational Psychology and Methodology at the University at Albany in the Fall of 2015 where she is currently an Associate Professor.
